Caracasbaai Beach is a rocky, laid-back beach on the southeastern coast of Curaçao, located in the historic Caracas Bay area about 15 minutes east of Willemstad. Once the site of a former oil terminal, this beach has a distinctly local, undeveloped atmosphere that sets it apart from the island's more touristy destinations. The water here is clear and deep, making it popular with divers and snorkelers who explore the nearby reef and the famous Tugboat wreck site just around the point. The beach is composed of a mix of sand, pebbles, and rocky patches, so water shoes are recommended. Facilities are minimal — there are no beach clubs or loungers for rent, but the trade-off is peace, quiet, and an authentic Curaçaoan coastal experience. The surrounding area includes the historic Fort Beekenburg, built in 1703 to protect the bay from pirates and rival colonial powers. Caracasbaai is a favorite spot for locals who come to swim, fish, and enjoy sunset views without the crowds found at Mambo Beach or Jan Thiel.
