Mariposa Hike is a hidden gem near Jan Thiel that many visitors still don’t know about. The trail winds through Curaçao’s rugged coastal landscape, with cactus-covered hills, coral stone paths, and beautiful viewpoints overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the Jan Thiel salt flats. The first section includes a short climb, but once you reach the higher ground the views open up in every direction. One of the highlights is the contrast between the wild coastline and the peaceful salt pans nearby—especially if flamingos are around. Late afternoon is the perfect time to go. The golden light makes the landscape glow, and sunset here can feel incredible.
