Playa Lagun

Playa Lagun is a narrow, sheltered cove ringed by dramatic cliffs on Curaçao's northwestern coast, famous as one of the best places on the island to swim with wild sea turtles. Located in the small fishing village of Lagun in the Banda Abou region, this beach is a favorite among snorkelers and divers due to its healthy reef that starts just a few meters from shore. The calm, clear water inside the cove provides excellent visibility, and sea turtles can be spotted year-round feeding on seagrass near the rocky edges. The beach is small but well-managed, with a dive shop on-site offering equipment rental and guided dives. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent, and a small snack bar provides basic food and drinks. Parking is available in the village — visitors are asked to park respectfully as this is a residential area. Playa Lagun is about a 45-minute drive from Willemstad along the scenic road to Westpunt. The best time to see turtles is in the morning when they are most active. Visitors should never touch or chase the turtles and should maintain a respectful distance while snorkeling.
