Landhuis Siberië is a historic colonial plantation house hidden in the kunuku (wild countryside) on the road to Westpunt, past Landhuis Daniel and opposite Terra Cora. The plantation was named after Siberio Cafiero, who together with Jan Kock purchased the plantation in 1784. Agriculture, particularly cotton cultivation, and stock breeding were the mainstays of this profitable plantation, making it one of the more successful colonial estates on the island. Landhuis Siberië is historically notable for its connection to advanced agricultural practices — Statius Muller, one of the few planters who introduced innovative agricultural techniques to Curaçao, managed the plantation and transformed it into a model of progressive farming. Under Muller's management, Siberië developed the largest orangeries on the island, a remarkable achievement given Curaçao's arid climate and challenging growing conditions. The orangeries produced citrus fruits that were essential to the island's economy and culture, and the plantations's oranges had a particularly important connection to Curaçao's most famous export: Landhuis Siberië supplied Landhuis Chobolobo with the orange peels used in the production of the world-famous Senior Curaçao Liqueur, the original Blue Curaçao. This historical link between two plantation houses — one growing the oranges, the other distilling the liqueur — represents the interconnected agricultural and industrial network of colonial Curaçao. The plantation house itself is a fine example of Dutch-Caribbean colonial architecture, nestled in the rugged kunuku landscape that characterizes Curaçao's interior. Landhuis Siberië is located about 25 minutes from Willemstad on the road to Westpunt and can be combined with visits to nearby Landhuis Daniel, Terra Cora, and the Curaçao Liqueur Distillery at Landhuis Chobolobo for a colonial heritage and agricultural history tour.
