Shete Boka National Park

About

Shete Boka National Park is a rugged nature reserve on Curaçao's dramatic north coast, named after the seven inlets (shete boka means "seven mouths" in Papiamentu) where the powerful Atlantic Ocean crashes into the island's limestone cliffs. The park is famous for Boca Tabla, a spectacular sea cave where visitors can walk underground and watch the ocean thunder in through a sea arch. Other highlights include dramatic blowholes that erupt 10-15 meters into the air, sea turtle nesting beaches (active June through October), and hiking trails along the cliff tops offering breathtaking views of the wild coastline. The park also contains Supladó, the famous natural jacuzzi formation, and Boka Hulu, a hidden coastal spot with dramatic cliffs and powerful waves. A small entry fee is charged at the park gate, and the park is easily accessible by car, about 30 minutes northwest of Willemstad. The best time to visit is at high tide when the blowholes and sea caves are at their most dramatic. Shete Boka offers a completely different landscape from Curaçao's calm south coast beaches — here the Atlantic Ocean shows its raw power against the island's rocky shoreline. The park can be combined with visits to Christoffel National Park and the Savonet Museum for a full day of nature and culture on Curaçao's wild northwest coast. Sturdy shoes are recommended for the rocky terrain.
