Ask me anything about Christoffel National Park.
Christoffel National Park is Curaçao's largest nature reserve, covering nearly 4,000 acres on the island's northwestern end. The park is home to Mount Christoffel, Curaçao's highest point at 375 meters (1,230 feet), offering a challenging sunrise hike with breathtaking panoramic views of the island and the Caribbean Sea. The park features diverse ecosystems including dry tropical forest, cactus-covered hills, orchid trails, and endemic wildlife such as the rare Curaçao white-tailed deer, which can occasionally be spotted in the early morning or late afternoon. Over 20 hiking trails of varying difficulty wind through the park, ranging from easy walks to the strenuous summit climb. The park is open daily from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with ticket sales closing at 1:30 PM. Entrance fee is 15 USD for adults. The sunrise hike to the summit starts at 6:00 AM and requires advance reservation. Guided tours are available at the visitor center and offer deeper insight into the park's flora, fauna, and geological history. The historic Landhuis Savonet, one of the island's oldest plantation houses, is located at the park entrance and houses the Savonet Museum, which tells the story of Curaçao from the Arawak inhabitants through the slavery era to modern times. Visitors should bring lots of water, solid footwear, and sun protection. Christoffel National Park is approximately 45 minutes northwest of Willemstad and is a must-visit for nature lovers, hikers, and anyone wanting to experience the wild, untouched side of Curaçao.
