Savonet Museum is one of the most important cultural and historical museums in Curaçao, located inside the historic plantation house of Savonet, one of the island’s oldest plantations. Situated in the heart of Christoffel National Park, the museum tells the story of Curaçao from the first Arawak inhabitants to the slavery era, emancipation, and modern times. Through interactive exhibits, audiovisual presentations, archaeological finds, antique objects, and personal stories from descendants of former enslaved people, visitors get a deep insight into the relationship between nature, culture, and plantation life in Curaçao. The museum also features exhibits about the island’s unique flora and fauna inside Christoffel Park.Modern audio-visual concepts, historical artefacts, faces of descendents of the former slaves, photography, completely restored antiques and much more give the museum the tools to tell a diverse story of interdependence between humans and nature, cultural history and natural history.
