Ask me anything about Landhuis Dokterstuin & Aloe Farm.
Landhuis Dokterstuin & Aloe Farm is a beautifully restored 18th-century plantation house in the Banda Ariba area of Curaçao, surrounded by an active aloe vera farm that continues the island's long tradition of aloe cultivation. Located about 15 minutes north of Willemstad, this peaceful rural estate offers visitors a glimpse into Curaçao's agricultural heritage and plantation history. Guided tours explain the history of aloe production on the island, the plantation's role in local agriculture, and the process of transforming raw aloe into skincare and wellness products. The plantation house itself is one of the best-preserved colonial homes on the island, featuring authentic Dutch-Caribbean architecture with wide galleries, shutter windows, and thick coral stone walls designed to keep the interior cool. The surrounding aloe fields create a unique landscape of orderly rows of the succulent plant, contrasting with the arid Curaçaoan countryside. Visitors can walk around the grounds for free, and aloe products are available for purchase on-site. The estate is often very quiet, offering a peaceful and authentic experience away from tourist crowds. Landhuis Dokterstuin can be combined with nearby attractions including the Aloe Vera Farm and the Ostrich Farm in the Santa Catharina area for a full day of inland exploration.
