About

Landhuis Ascension is one of Curaçao’s most elegant historic plantation houses, dating back to the colonial era and representing the island’s rich architectural and cultural heritage. Located in the peaceful countryside of West Curaçao, the estate is known for its distinctive yellow Dutch-colonial design, large staircases, shutter windows, and panoramic views over the surrounding hills and nature areas. Originally part of a large plantation estate, the landhuis reflects an important chapter of Curaçao’s history connected to agriculture, trade, and colonial life on the island. Today, the building stands as a beautifully preserved historical landmark and one of the most photogenic plantation houses in Curaçao. The quiet rural setting and authentic atmosphere make it a perfect stop for visitors interested in architecture, history, and heritage photography.Every first Sunday of the month Ascension is open to public. Local artist show their works and local musicians and dancers brighten the day. Every Thursday morning there's a tour.
