North Coast — Wild Surf, Sea Turtles, Natural Bays.

About

Shete Boka National Park protects one of the most dramatic coastlines in the Caribbean. Located along Curaçao's rugged northern shore, this protected area showcases the raw power of the Atlantic Ocean as enormous waves crash into limestone cliffs, sea caves and narrow inlets carved over thousands of years.

The name "Shete Boka" means "Seven Inlets" in Papiamentu, referring to the series of natural coves scattered along the coastline. Each inlet has its own unique character. Boka Tabla is famous for its cave system where waves explode through underground chambers, creating thunderous sounds that echo across the cliffs. Nearby Boka Pistol is named after the loud gunshot-like noise produced when large waves collide with the rock formations.

Beyond its dramatic scenery, Shete Boka plays a critical role in marine conservation. Several species of endangered sea turtles use the park's beaches as nesting grounds throughout the year. Leatherback, hawksbill and green sea turtles regularly visit the area, making it one of the most important turtle habitats in the southern Caribbean.

Visitors can explore the coastline via walking trails that connect the various bokas. Elevated viewpoints provide excellent opportunities for photography, while interpretive signs explain the geology, ecology and conservation efforts taking place within the park. During periods of strong surf, the force of the ocean creates spectacular displays that attract photographers and nature enthusiasts from around the world.

Unlike Curaçao's calm southern beaches, Shete Boka reveals the island's untamed side. Windswept cliffs, crashing waves and dramatic natural formations create a landscape that feels almost prehistoric. For travelers seeking scenery, wildlife and unforgettable coastal views, Shete Boka is one of Curaçao's most iconic destinations.
