Iconic Sights & Landmarks

Curaçao's landmarks tell the story of a small island with a big history. The Queen Emma Bridge — a floating pontoon that swings open for ships — is the most photographed spot in Willemstad. Fort Amsterdam, built in 1635, guards the entrance to St. Anna Bay and houses the island's government buildings.

On the west coast, the Knip Bay lookout offers panoramic views of the turquoise bay below — one of the best photo spots on the island. The Tafelberg mesa dominates the eastern skyline, while the old salt pans of Jan Thiel remind visitors of the island's industrial past.

Most landmarks are free to visit and easily accessible by car. Allow a full day to explore Willemstad's historic center on foot, and another day for the west coast sights.
